Police are searching for a suspect who was involved in a shooting outside of an area strip club early Monday morning that put one man in the hospital.
The victim, 43-year-old Esteban Almarez, was sent to the hospital in an unknown condition, according to a news release from the Houston Police Department.
HPD said officers responded to reports of a shooting at 10314 Hempstead Rd., the location of Memories Cabaret, at about 3:20 a.m. Monday. Almarez was inside the club and, after a fight between two female employees, the manager told everyone to leave, according to police.
When Almarez and the manager went outside to disperse the crowd, HPD said an unidentified person fired shots in the air to help clear the crowd. Another unknown person then returned fire, hitting Almarez once in the back, police said.
Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact HPD’s Major Assaults & Family Violence Division at 713-308-8800 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
