As he continues to campaign for the elected role of Harris County Sheriff, Joe Danna is grieving the sudden death of his wife of 48 years.
Donna Jean Danna died Thursday at the couple’s Houston home, according to a statement released Friday by Joe Danna’s campaign. She was 66.
The statement said, “Early reports indicate that the cause of death was a massive heart attack.”
Donna Danna is survived by her husband and daughters Monica, Jill and Kailey. Joe Danna grew up in the Lindale subdivision, and he and Donna married in 1972 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd.
“As my daughters and I attempt to move forward in this world without Donna, we thank God for the gift of her life and love,” Joe Danna said. “We are experiencing profound grief and heartbreak, and will continue to do so for some time. There was no one like Donna. She was the love of my life and my biggest supporter.”
A campaign spokesperson said his wife’s death will not impact Joe Danna’s candidacy for county sheriff. He beat Paul Day in the Republican primary runoff in July and is facing incumbent Ed Gonzalez, a Democrat, in November’s general election.
